My Story

The word cancer had a profound impact on me when I was just 8 years old. This was the age when my mother received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer at the age of 45.
At the time, my oldest sister was in her second year of college, my second sister was a junior in high school, and I was in fourth grade. Since then, my mother has undergone numerous surgeries, endured several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and even participated in several clinical trials. Her courageous battle against cancer and her unwavering belief in science have inspired both of my sisters to pursue careers in medicine.
My oldest sister is now a physician and a surgical resident, while my second sister is a medical student. As for myself, I am a rising senior in high school with a deep interest in cancer research. My mother's resilience and determination in fighting cancer over the past 8 years have greatly influenced me. However, I am fully aware that her journey has not been fought alone. A community of friends and caregivers have provided invaluable support along the way. It is my personal mission to make these vital resources available to as many individuals fighting cancer as possible.
